This process is very sluggish and ill-conceived and is further complicated by the camera angles which sometimes make it difficult to discern where your enemy is because after moving a couple of feet the camera angle has changed so drastically that you are forced to re orientate yourself to the environment. First off when shielding you can not rotate the player, you must first un-shield, then find the right angle to defend and then shield again. The controls are built around Rygar’s weapon the Diskarmor which acts and looks like a shield but extends out like a whip from a chain for offensive maneuvers. Motion can be used during the conquest mode by grabbing an enemy with the Diskarmor and then whipping them around with a wiggle of the Wii remote, but these are basically jerk-the-remote for a pre-rendered response type moves and can just as well be done by using other basic controls. In this mode all attacks are achieved by use of the motion contols yet they are a forceful three in number, each attained by pressing the ‘a’ button and jerking the Wiimote in one of three directions. Tecmo has however added a little tinsel to incorporate the Wii remote motion controls which really come into play during the gladiator mode of the game. The developers have only written controls for the Wiimote-nunchuck combo.
